![]() ![]() There is something to be said about exploring all of the different playstyles and skill combinations that come with experiencing a new class for the first time. ![]() But I unexpectedly found myself actually enjoying leveling. ![]() I ended up cheesing the leveling grind by using various “cheats” like the Gem of Ease and Custerian Wristguards in tandem with the huge amount of Paragon Points brought over from my live account. Before the beta went live, the thought of leveling yet another character from 1-70 (and my progress being wiped post-beta) was less than exciting. Nevertheless, my time spent playing the Necromancer has been an overall enjoyable one. The beta also does not include Necromancer specific items, including set pieces, which will play a HUGE part in the different class builds. It is still under development, and a lot of balancing is going to occur between now and release time. It is worth pointing out this is the first time the Necromancer is playable on the PTR. Playing during the beta finally has allowed us to explore all of the Necromancer’s abilities and passives, and see if the class’s playstyle really did provide the continuity with the original Diablo II class that the developers have been claiming. But my thirst for more Necromancer was quenched when I recently received my invite to the Diablo 3 Necromancer closed beta. While this did a great job showcasing some of the class’s new abilities, this didn’t give a clear picture of the class playstyle in its entirety. At PAX, we only got to run a melee-focused Necromancer through a single Greater Rift.
